Please ensure t hat your presence and conversations reflect this\, so the focus remains on them rather than on personal appearance.\nWe don’t discuss another person ’s diet\, as that shifts the focus to humans.\nWe don’t promote “baby step s” or congratulate members of the public for partial changes\, as that als o centres the conversation on them.\nOur focus is challenging the belief t hat other sentient species exist for human use.\nThe outreach is strictly abolitionist.\nBe they land\, water or air animals\, we must recognise tha t they have moral value and are not things.\nWe must stop using them as re sources of any kind. \nWe must stop exploiting them in any way. \nWe must dismantle the belief that they exist for us. \nWe must dismantle the beli ef that they are property. \nThe Earthlings Experience welcomes vegans to become active. Scroll down for the meaning of veganism. \nThose new to thi s type of street activism are asked to hold a device or placard\, or to sh adow another activist until they’re ready to have conversations with membe rs of the public. Holding a device or placard is as\, if not more\, import ant than chatting with the public simply because they are often seen first . \nThe Importance of Regular Outreach\nThis is not about us\; it's about amplifying the voices of nonhuman beings exploited by humans.\nStreet acti vism relies on a small number of dedicated individuals\, but it shouldn't. With so many more who could join\, we need greater participation. Persona l engagement is vital. Even those who don’t stop to talk still see us\, an d those moments help plant seeds of awareness.\nAs vegan animal rights act ivists and outreachers\, we must:\nSpeak about rights\, not welfare.\nDema nd moral consistency and reject injustice.\nReject 'baby steps' and utilit arianism.\nWe wouldn’t accept gradual\, minor reforms for human injustices \, so why do so when it comes to other species? Campaigning against specif ic forms of cruelty\, abuse\, suffering\, harm\, and violence only strengt hens a welfarist ideology — the same approach that has stalled progress fo r over 200 years. Industry profiteers will continue making small changes\, claiming they’ve “ended suffering\,” while welfarist organisations endors e them\, leading the public to believe their choices are "humane."\nWelfar ism pushes abolitionism even further into the future.\nThe importance of L anguage\nWords matter: Talk about he\, she\, they\, and someone — not it\, that\, or something. Talk about amplifying voices\, not being their voice . Say flesh\, not meat (‘meat’ is product-led language).\nPlants\nSentienc e refers to the ability to have subjective experiences\, emotions\, or con sciousness. While plants respond to stimuli like light\, gravity\, and tou ch\, these reactions are biochemical and physiological — not conscious or emotional.\nSome researchers argue that plants display a form of "intellig ence" because they adapt to their environment\, communicate chemically\, a nd exhibit memory-like behaviour. However\, this is vastly different from sentience\, as it does not involve conscious thought or feelings.\nIf plan ts were sentient\, it would reshape our moral obligations towards them. Ho wever\, because they lack subjective experiences\, most ethical frameworks do not extend rights to them as they do to animals.
